Assistant District Attorney
Victim Witness Coordinator
It is the mission of the district attorney’s office to be firm, yet fair, in prosecuting the crimes and offenses that are the responsibility of a district attorney.
A brief description of matters customarily handled by the district attorney's office would include the following:
Prosecute all criminal matters including but not limited to burglary, theft, sexual assault, worthless checks, obstructing officers, forgery, criminal nonsupport, welfare fraud, disorderly conduct, battery, criminal damage, negligent homicide, and the possession, distribution, or otherwise prohibited acts with respect to drugs.
Prosecute state forfeitures such as failure to abide by weatherization stipulations, certain wage claims, violations of Department of Agriculture regulations, open meeting law violations, and so on.
As a somewhat separate category we also process all juvenile delinquency proceedings with respect to criminal activity and truancies.
Traffic matters such as speeding, as well as traffic crimes such as operating while under the influence of an intoxicant, operating without a valid driver’s license, causing the death of a human being while operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, and so on. Our office does not handle traffic matters which are not criminal that occur in the various cities within the county, that is done by city attorneys.
Prosecute county ordinance violations having a criminal statutory counterpart.
