Policy & Placement Outline

 

All mailboxes must be able to withstand flying snow and slush from traffic and snowplows.  Properly installed and maintained mailboxes that are damaged by direct contact with highway plow equipment may be replaced with a minimum U.S. Postal Service approved mailbox.  Mailboxes that are placed too close to the traveled way, not installed on an approved base or deteriorated in poor condition will not be replaced.  Decorative mailboxes will not be replaced in kind.  The box and base must be strong enough to withstand flying snow and slush from traffic and snowplows.  A printable copy of this policy is available by clicking this link.
